Shelby Newcomb serves as the Executive Legal Assistant at The Irving Law Firm, where she supports the Managing Partner and the Civil and Business team. Her work is grounded in integrity, empathy, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Shelby is known for being dependable and solutions oriented, whether she is coordinating complex initiatives, improving internal workflows, or assisting clients during important moments. She believes that when people feel supported and systems operate efficiently, organizations perform at their best, and she applies that perspective throughout her role.
Shelby brings a combination of operational leadership, project management experience, and people focused collaboration to the firm. She grew up in Virginia and earned her Bachelor of Arts in History from James Madison University in 2016, followed by a Master’s degree in Education from Johns Hopkins University in 2020. She spent several years working in education as a Special Educator and Case Manager, where she managed complex programs, coordinated multidisciplinary teams, and implemented data driven systems designed to improve outcomes. After the birth of her son, Shelby transitioned her career path and earned her Project Management Professional certification in 2025.
Outside of her professional responsibilities, Shelby enjoys spending time with her husband, toddler, and two dogs, traveling to new destinations, and exploring great food and coffee.
