Alexandra Mannix
Attorney
In 2025, The Irving Law Firm welcomed Alexandra Mannix to the team. Her work focuses on criminal defense, where she represents both retained clients and individuals receiving court-appointed indigent defense.
Before joining the firm, Alexandra served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Julia A. Minner at the Circuit Court for Frederick County in Maryland. During law school, she earned her Third Year Practice Certificate and completed internships in the Loudoun County Circuit Court Chambers and the Arlington County Circuit Court Chambers. These experiences gave her direct exposure to judicial processes, courtroom expectations, and day-to-day decision-making. Her responsibilities included drafting legal memoranda, reviewing Presentence Investigation Reports and preparing summaries for sentencing hearings, and confirming statutory compliance in case files before Final Divorce Decrees were entered.
Alexandra’s interest in the judicial system also extends to academic work. In 2023, she contributed a published chapter to the Edward Elgar Research Handbook on Law and Political Systems. The project examined how factors such as gender, race, and partisanship among trial judges in Alabama may relate to verdicts, appeals, and reversals. She and her co-author compiled an original statewide judicial dataset, creating research material that had not previously existed.
Alexandra is originally from Flemington, New Jersey. She graduated summa cum laude from The College of New Jersey with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and later earned her law degree from George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School, where she participated in the Journal of Law, Economics and Policy.
