Wells Thomason Associate Attorney The Irving Law Firm

Wells Thomason

Associate Attorney

Wells Thomason is an Associate Attorney  at Fairfax County Criminal Attorneys, based in the Arlington office. A graduate of George Mason Antonin Scalia Law School, Wells focuses on helping clients navigate family law matters ranging from uncontested divorces to complex litigation involving property division, child custody, and support issues. He is committed to providing practical guidance and thoughtful legal representation throughout every stage of the process.

Before joining the firm, Wells worked with the Northern Virginia Bankruptcy Clinic, assisting individuals facing financial hardship as they pursued bankruptcy relief. He also gained experience at a corporate litigation firm in Dallas, where he worked on commercial disputes involving debt related claims.

While attending law school, Wells served on the Student Bar Association for all three years, helping oversee funding and operations for student organizations, academic journals, and advocacy teams. He was also an active member of the Journal of Law, Economics, and Policy and later served as its Articles and Research Editor during the 2025 to 2026 academic year.

His background extends well beyond the legal profession. Wells studied history and chemistry at Baylor University, concentrating on Chinese history, and presented historical research examining Washington, D.C. and its connection to the civil rights movement. His professional experience also includes public policy work related to eviction moratoriums during the COVID-19 pandemic, founding a real estate renovation company, investing in real estate, and earning a commercial captain’s license through the United States Coast Guard.

Outside of practicing law, Wells enjoys advising startup founders, investing, and studying the ideas of influential thinkers such as Benjamin Franklin and Charlie Munger. He is an avid reader, enjoys experimenting with regional barbecue techniques, and spends his free time hiking near the Potomac River with his wife or taking their bulldogs on long walks.
